What is Clydesdale Media Podcast?

We cover the sport of CrossFit from all angles. We talk with athletes, coaches and celebrities that compete and surround in the sport of CrossFit at all levels. We also bring you Breaking News, Human Interest Stories and report on the Methodology of CrossFit. We also use the methodology to make ourselves the fittest we can be.

Thank the Lord.

It is Friday.

From the gym to the screen, yeah,

we cover it all.

Midday motivation every time you press

call.

Lunch with the Clydesdale.

Cowboy, bring the heat.

Crossfit, boobies, music on repeat.

Half-hour hustle, yeah,

we're building that brand.

Grab a plate, tune in now,

you're part of the fam.

It's lunch time.

You actually got the right key in tune

right there.

I like that.

That was nice.

Yeah.

That was definitely nice.

Why is it that Joseph Ramirez every day

associates a food with the day of the

week?

I'm going to tell you what.

When you burn as much calories as Joseph

Ramirez does,

the man exercises like a maniac.

You got to feed the machine.

Got to feed the machine.

feeding the beast man let's be real

hundred percent absolutely yeah anybody

who who subs in an echo bike for

an erg i don't have a choice hey

sometimes you have a choice you got to

do what you got to do you got

you have to feed that beast because you

are burning more calories on the echo than

you are on the arc depending on the

workout yeah i would say that for sure

had a real fun one uh monday that

actually did tuesday that was absolutely

disgusting because that's just kind of

that we program you didn't you did so

i don't know you watched the sunday show

late did you see what jamie programmed for

her gym last week and uh oh the

freaking mile yeah yeah no she's out of

her mind when i saw that as a

matter of fact i wanted to text her

and be like dude do you hate your

members like what is wrong

And I preface that with my dumb co-host.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

And she seemed like she deserved it.

I mean, that's just absolutely insane,

dude.

She was shooting me videos of it going

down.

She'd completed it in the morning.

These were evening videos of the class.

It looked awful.

That's because it was.

That's only the reason why it looked awful

is because it absolutely is.

There's no way, dude.

Like, that's just... What is it?

Four hundred meters of burpee broad jumps?

Four hundred meters of something else?

Four hundred meters of... Well,

I think there's a run in between each

of the... Oh, yeah.

That makes it so much better.

Yeah.

Thank God.

You can break with a run.

Sure.

I... Yeah.

Just...

Mark Phillips is another stupid,

silly pants, dumb, stupid, silly,

whatever it is.

It's DDSP.

DDSP.

DDSP.

I want to do it,

just don't want to do it alone.

Oh, you just finish with a four-meter run.

Somehow I doubt by the finish you're

looking to do anything that's even

resembling a run.

I would say it probably ends with a

four-meter shuffle.

Yeah.

You just finish with a run.

I take...

Take it back.

Yeah.

It's not broken up by runs.

You finish with a run.

Yeah.

Run.

I don't want to do anything.

No, Meg.

As far as I know, she's not.

She may have been.

She's been watching some sort of trial.

So that might actually be it.

She watches it on her phone.

So I have no idea if that's actually

what it is or if it's some other

trial because she loves that kind of shit.

So it might be.

I can't do that kind of stuff because

it involves kids.

And I'm going to get irrationally angry

and upset and all that stuff because...

If you hurt children,

you are the absolute worst possible thing,

in my opinion,

on the face of the absolute planet.

And I will take it out personally on

you.

My wife is probably watching it.

I wouldn't know because I check out

whenever any true crime is on.

When I'm down here doing this is when

she squeezes in her true crime stuff.

yeah we watched them uh together because

some of the stuff she we we pick

up is interesting like the the what the

what was it uh some of the ones

that are like the world's worst like worst

neighbors or whatever is on uh is on

one of them that one was that was

four episodes of that's pretty cool like

one of them these people house just

exploded in the middle of a neighborhood

which seemed pretty random at one point

but they were actually trying to do it

to get uh

to get the insurance money off of it.

And the neighbors ended up dying.

It was a whole terrible thing.

But in some of the other ones,

the one that started off,

this woman went absolutely batshit insane

on her neighbors,

and they lived across the street from each

other.

So it wasn't like she was down the

road or nothing like that.

It just kept going on and on and

on and on.

Bro, it was wild.

Yeah, Daniel, I don't even want to know.

If it's my time, it's my time.

Yeah, no.

Wayne Short said something.

Wayne, if you could pull up to Wayne.

I challenge anybody to hit the like

button.

If you don't,

your weekend will be filled with doo-doo.

Or am I making that up?

With two-doos?

Doo-doo?

Oh, honey-doos.

With honey-doos.

He edited it.

got gotcha uh i got news for you

there homie doing that anyway right so i'm

going to visit my mom next weekend um

and i said why don't you just leave

that and i'll and i'll fix it when

i get there she said i've already got

a list of things for you oh good

oh yay wait to see you mom that's

super exciting right there yeah no my wife

texted me earlier this week and was like

we're pressure washing the garage

Saturday.

So find a good pressure washer was his

exact, her exact words.

I'm like, find a,

like we have a pressure washer.

Why am I looking for another one?

I don't understand what's happening right

now.

Yeah.

My mom gives me sunny do lists.

Yeah.

Well, I mean,

gotta be grammatically correct.

Um, Ken Walters, some of the,

about a proven longest five K, uh,

sorry don't want to forget that it was

way up there uh the proven workout world's

longest five k you do twenty five burpees

then a thousand meter run then fifty air

squats for five rounds our box did that

in endurance class last week that was

rough ken no just no yeah um

Meg says that was your chance to get

a new pressure washer.

Corey, way to blow that opportunity.

Megan, I don't want a new pressure washer.

You understand what happens if you have a

new pressure washer?

Then you actually have to use it.

Exactly.

No.

I'm okay.

I'll be all right without that.

I watched some football last night.

Oh,

was the Hall of Fame game last night?

No, no, we're past Hall of Fame.

We're a week in preseason week one.

Shows you where I'm at on the timeline

there.

Yeah,

I actually told Garrett and Joseph and

Jeremy that the reason you weren't on the

sports show is because I have to explain

the sports to you if it's not CrossFit.

Yeah, well, I mean,

it depends on which sport we're talking

about, but yeah, for the most part.

As a matter of fact,

I was at the barber this morning,

and I go to an actual barber shop,

and it's

one of the highlights of my month when

i get to go in there because it

is straight up old school barber shop like

if there's a woman in there it's because

she brought her kid to go and and

get their haircut and whatnot so it's a

bunch of old dudes or adult god men

whatever

talking about whatever comes across this

morning.

It was Jaden Daniels and, uh, you know,

preseason football and all that other good

stuff.

But that's why I sell my barber this

morning.

So Jonathan, I said, man,

I might actually watch the saints this

year.

I haven't watched professional football

and I had to think about it for

a little while.

I think the last full season of

professional football I watched was in two

thousand and fourteen.

And it's two thousand twenty six.

If anybody was keeping track.

Yeah, it's been about that long.

It's been about that long.

So last night I watched Steelers Packers.

I watched Bengals Lions.

I tuned in for a minute of Raiders

Cardinals.

That was boring as hell.

And then I hit a little bit of

Titans Niners.

So there was a lot of football last

night.

So this is the Joseph Ramirez section of

the podcast.

Drew Aller for the Steelers looked

awesome.

All right.

So he is a Penn State kid.

I watched every snap he took at Penn

State.

He didn't look this good in college.

And in his first pro start looked really

freaking good.

He went ten of thirteen for one eighty

and three touchdowns.

Wow.

That's impressive.

Yeah.

That's efficiency actually is what that

is.

Um, which is outstanding.

Uh, they went,

so I was watching a thing, uh,

actually not that long ago where,

they were, you know, the,

this quarterback or that quarterback,

whatever.

And they were talking about college

quarterbacks, nothing from, uh,

what's his name?

Brandon on, uh, Barstool sports.

And they were doing college quarterbacks

and, you know,

it came up Peyton or whoever, right.

Talking about Peyton Manning.

He's one that he was okay in Tennessee,

but like he couldn't beat,

he couldn't beat Florida.

And then once he got to the NFL,

and I feel like a lot of them

were like that.

Drew Brees was that freaking Purdue,

for Christ's sake.

That football powerhouse, Purdue.

It goes to show you that one player

can't win a game.

Correct.

you get them in the nfl and all

of a sudden they got all these other

tools and weapons around them and a better

line and a better system that works better

for them all of a sudden it's like

somebody you've never heard of potentially

is holy where did this kid come from

yeah well penn state was in the final

four two years ago with drew aller at

quarterback yeah lost on a last second

interception to notre dame

Like,

they could have been in the national

championship game two years ago very

easily.

And then last year,

the wheels came off the bus, the train,

whatever.

All of it.

But it was fun.

It was good to see football back.

And then I'm excited for tomorrow where

the Bears' first preseason game and the

cross-fitting Tyson Bajent will be getting

the start for the Chicago Bears tomorrow,

one p.m.

against the Cleveland Browns.

And I'm excited.

He's getting a whole half,

a whole first half.

Not the Indiana Bears yet.

They said yesterday that they are

adamantly,

they will never be the Indiana Bears.

They may have a stadium in Indiana,

but the name will always be Chicago Bears.

Just checking.

Just checking.

Ken Walter says, pump the brakes.

It's first week preseason Nittany Lion

bias.

Hey, bro.

was skeptical whether he could play in the

NFL because I watched every snap at Penn

State he was very inconsistent his

footwork looked really good and really

different last night that's all I'm gonna

say and that's a big thing with

quarterbacks yeah

The other thing I wanted to get into,

and I need Vicky's help on this one,

is yesterday during the chat, people said,

hey,

did you see the end of the barbell

spin?

Oh, yes, I did.

And no, I did not.

So I did.

If Vicky is ready,

we have it queued up.

And if she goes ahead and plays this.

All right.

with volume, hopefully.

Oh, no.

All right.

So let me see if I can pull

it up, Vicki, real quick.

While you're doing that, Mr.

Brian Thompson,

the Tuesday Sports Talk was on Glinton

Things Podcast.

Our friends, the Glintons,

friends of the show,

collaborators on the show from time to

time, good people.

I gave her the timestamp.

Can you put the timestamp into the chat,

Vicki, so I can find it real quick?

Thank you for having premium, Vicki.

Yes, we have premium, Vicki.

We don't have discount Vicki.

One fifty one twenty.

Bum, bum, bum, bum, bum.

I don't know, but.

I.

I just think about the direction of media

and marketing within CrossFit.

I don't know what you do with it.

I know.

I think I'm about done.

No, I'm serious.

I think I'm about done.

That was such an old man way of

saying it, dude.

We're all sitting on a porch in rocking

chairs and John goes, well,

I'm about done.

I wish I had the end stream button

ready.

I'm not talking about the podcast.

Just with it all.

Just focus on me and mine.

I'm serious because people don't know

We, we are in,

we're in a CrossFit matrix and only a

few people have chosen the red pill.

I think that's far enough.

So, um, very interesting.

Uh, I was caught off guard by this,

um,

someone who is so passionate about the

sport all of a sudden, um,

says he's done and that he needs to

prioritize him and his family.

He goes on to say that he's just

tired of trying to say things that he

thinks are helpful and that could help the

sport and that nobody ever listens and

nothing ever changes.

And then I will say that Brian Spinn

jumped in and said that we need to

be the voice of reason.

Without third-party media being the voice

of reason,

then you just get what everybody wants you

to do.

And he hearkened back to ten years ago

to when CrossFit ran the media and nobody

could get access to anything.

Right.

And they controlled everything.

And it wasn't until this third-party media

came to kind of

Be the voice of reason.

Be the devil's advocate.

Be the other side of the argument that

we actually had some stuff like this.

And the reason this kind of resonates with

me is there's part of me that feels

this way too.

Not that I'm done, but man,

I'm really tired of banging my head

against the wall.

Sure.

So I went back in time.

uh to an interview that i did oh

i thought you meant you actually went back

in time that would have been way cool

um and if vicky could give me the

time stamp on this one um i know

about where it is uh so i'm gonna

oh she said it's in a private chat

uh

yep all right so i'm gonna just play

it from here uh so this was episode

two sixty of the clydesdale fitness and

friends before we changed our name and uh

the whole crew is there but i'm i

it's only armin talking so uh this is

armin hammer back in the day and this

is after he disappeared and we asked him

why have you disappeared and then it was

you know, the whole Greg Glassman thing.

And then it was, you know,

CrossFit gets sold.

And what does that mean for CrossFit?

What does it mean for the future?

I just felt like at a certain point,

I was kind of repeating myself.

I felt like I was just saying similar

things over and over again.

And the people who listened either agreed

or disagreed and kind of brought up good

points or in both directions.

And the people who heard what they wanted

to hear generally tended to just assume

that I was saying something that I

definitely wasn't.

um which is just common for the internet

in general and i felt like i kind

of got my point across in a lot

of ways and by the time we sort

of did this insane like third trimester

cross-country move and then like couple

months later had a baby by the time

that happened i was just really worn thin

by the the

crossfit not like the community because

that was a hundred percent the best part

of everything that this thing has to offer

but i was just worn thin by the

organization like crossfit as an

organization wore me out to the point

where i just could not i could not

see myself like especially once lev was

born and i kind of felt this really

monumental shift in my priorities

The time that I was spending covering

CrossFit as an organization felt

poisonous.

It just didn't.

So I feel like there are very parallel

stories here with what John Young said the

other night on the barbell spin and what

we captured with Armin.

Gosh, I don't know.

It was years ago.

Um,

I don't even know when that came out.

Four years ago, four freaking years ago.

So how do you,

and I see Sean asking,

banging my head against the wall to do

what?

We're a talk show that talks about

CrossFit and we talk about the same things

over and over again, the same mistakes,

the same things that frustrate us.

And it gets old by the end of

the season.

Like I am done.

I don't want to talk about it anymore.

That's why I love this show.

I love this show because, um,

Because we don't always talk about

CrossFit.

We have fun.

We do other things, right?

But this is a serious piece.

And Jake's in the chat.

What's up, Jake?

Haven't seen you in a bit.

Good, you're back.

CrossFit is very simple.

There's only so much content one can make

around the central stuff.

The issue is you say that,

but they have this arm that is a

sport.

And it has a season that goes all

year round.

People talk about the NFL all year round.

People talk about baseball all year round.

People talk about other sports all year

round.

And it's just getting to be hard because

you're saying the same things.

Nobody is doing anything different.

And you're begging.

That's why I wanted to dive into WFP.

It's going to be different.

And it just turned out to be kind

of the same old thing.

Well, yeah,

it's still a CrossFit competition at its

base.

I mean,

even Jason Ansley said that the other day

when he was on Pedro's show.

Right.

But just because you're a CrossFit

competition doesn't mean you can't change

the format up.

And I've made this argument in the past.

The CrossFit Games finds the fittest on

earth.

It has to be a balanced test.

It has to meet all these criteria.

When you're not that,

you can be whatever you want to be.

But everybody just dives into,

we need to have a balanced test.

We need to find the fittest at this

competition.

No, you don't.

You just need to do something fun for

competitors to come sign up for.

We already have the thing that finds the

fittest.

We don't need to do that eight more

times in a year.

Oh, okay.

I see what you're saying.

Yeah.

The games needs to do that.

I will concede to that.

But Rogue doesn't try to find the fittest.

They try to find the coolest shit they

can put out on the floor to market

their stuff, and it's a different comp,

and that's why I enjoy watching it every

year.

Or the most ridiculous, or sometimes both.

Yes.

Asima,

I like the show because things aren't

clipped and posted to IG and YouTube to

be taken out of context and spun a

narrative to take other shows down.

Thank you.

You have no idea how many conversations

Scott and I have had about that very

thing.

The fact that we don't.

So, yeah,

we're not trying to do that by any

stretch of imagination.

No, I don't disagree, but there's not...

Beyond that,

so this is another counterpoint or kind of

goes hand in hand with that is that,

oh, athletes, they won't, you know,

WFP is a perfect example.

Oh, it's going to be great.

More chances to compete,

more chances about whatever.

And there's only so much competing in

CrossFit you can actually do in the span

of a year and not be completely broken

as an athlete.

just isn't so like and you know wfp

came out swinging big time you know we've

got all these athletes blah blah whatever

and then it takes a toll and you

see the guys slowly drop off of it

slowly drop off of it so there's only

so much that that stuff you can do

and i'll agree with you that yeah i

would there's not there's only so much to

talk about it does get super annoying to

just be rehashing the same things over and

over again but i would also say that

I don't know what else we expect them

to do because it's not like they've ever

listened to media in the first place.

But I think that's where the frustration

comes in, right?

Like if we think about Armin,

Armin was in the space for ten years.

Yeah.

Ten years prior to any of us being

in the space.

He was the naked CrossFitter.

He was the WODcast podcast, right?

Like all that stuff that occurred way

before any of us jumped into this.

And he had a breaking point.

He hit a breaking point about that

CrossFit just never did anything

different.

And this is where I worry, right?

Because it's not just a sport thing,

which is what we focus on on this

show and most of the shows focus on.

Affiliates are leaving.

Affiliates are leaving.

We used to have fifteen thousand

affiliates.

We're somewhere around eight or nine now.

That isn't...

That is a scary drop in affiliates.

Sean in Oregon,

I'm an influencer leading voice in my

industry.

I stopped talking at conferences,

publishing articles, et cetera,

ten months ago because I have nothing else

new to say.

So I get it.

I think that's what Armin was saying.

The John Young thing,

you have to listen to it.

He makes the analogy to the Matrix that

there are people that know what's going on

behind the scenes and people that don't.

And the people that don't are just kind

of like driving aimlessly down the road

without knowing what's going on and

thinking that everything's going to be

great.

We've never been in the know on this

show.

I know a few things,

but I've never been in the know or

part of any group that's been in the

know.

I'll tell you,

if you're third-party media and you go to

the games, there are definitely tears.

Oh, I would say so.

And I've never been in the games as

media or even just as a guest.

I have no problem believing that

whatsoever.

Yeah.

some people are going to get treated

differently than others yeah and i don't

even have a big problem with that and

unless it's abused and um people are being

very blatant about it

Yeah.

So I don't know.

I just wanted to,

people brought it up yesterday.

I went, I watched it.

I,

and I just got to say like after

the games,

I need to take a step back and

I'm actually,

I'm going to WFP in another week and

a half.

I'm actually excited about that.

I'm, I'm excited to see,

I'm excited to see something different.

I just want to see what's there.

And I'm telling you this,

the infighting in the media,

I've said this a million times.

I'm so over that.

I think it totally brings everything else

down.

I don't know.

I'll never understand it.

I really, really don't.

Because it's not like there's not enough

room for everybody.

It makes no sense to me whatsoever.

I don't get it.

I am eternally grateful.

that we are not part of that like

every day that i come on here and

do this show i am incredibly grateful that

we never got caught up in and i

have no plans on getting caught up in

any of that external you know it's not

us and i'm happy for that

Peter hanging out in the chat.

WFP back in Indianapolis should be good.

Jason taking a step forward is great.

Listen,

that's why I'm excited about WFP because

we dogged them pretty hard in season one.

yeah they've made changes and the major

major change in my opinion is making jason

ainsley the front-facing voice of wfp

people if you did not watch his interview

with peter on peter's show the other day

go watch it it's an it's incredibly good

because there's no bullshit in jason

ainsley there's none whatsoever i'm like

i'm so this happened at monster games

while we're talking about jason

So we did the combine.

We were the test mules for the combine.

We didn't do the bench press,

but we did do the four-yard dash,

the five-ten-five, the vertical leap,

and the broad jump.

They had problems getting all the data

together for the four-yard dash and the

five-ten-five for whatever reason.

Their technology wasn't working exactly

right,

so they couldn't get everybody's scores

in.

So what they ended up doing was just

deleting those two scores completely.

Okay.

So the next morning,

like that Sunday morning,

I wake up to two separate emails from

Jason Ansley.

The first one is explaining what happened.

Hey, the data was corrupted, whatever.

We couldn't get all of it.

So this is the decision that we made.

And he probably sent that sometime

Saturday night.

I don't know.

I didn't check my email that much.

Okay.

The very next email, because in my app,

they come in,

the newest one is on top.

So I actually read that one first and

said, basically, he's like,

and this is not a direct quote from

Jason.

This is me saying basically what he said.

Me paraphrasing here is like, hey,

all you people who sent me emails back,

bitching at me, come find me today.

And I will gladly have a conversation with

you about as to why we did what

we did.

I'm sorry if you don't like it,

but it was the best and only solution

that we had.

And that's the kind of dude that he

is.

I was not blown away because I've had

a couple interactions with him before,

and I have no problem believing that.

But he legitimately told people, hey,

I will talk to any and everyone who

has an issue.

I'm going to be there all day long,

and I will talk to everybody that wants

to be talked to until everybody is

satisfied.

Yeah, the bench press,

the combine style of the bench press is

too hard to judge, I guess.

And that makes complete sense.

But they are doing a one rep max

bench at WFP in a week and a

half.

It is just,

it's not during the combine session.

It is later in the weekend.

Yeah.

So basically is what I'm getting at is

that Jay Stansley is that dude.

He has no problem talking to anybody who

wants to talk to him.

We'll have a, you know,

a legitimate conversation.

Um, he, it was awesome.

It was,

it was an outstanding interaction with an

entire group of people who were highly

upset, uh, that they're, you know,

the work that they did the day before

was not going to get counted.

And I understand that.

And he did too,

but like the hate that he was getting,

he was like,

y'all want to talk to me,

come talk to me.

Don't just send me emails randomly behind

a wall.

So.

Having him in short, as like you said,

being the front facing for the WFP was

probably the smartest thing they did since

they've been a thing.

Can I just say on another note,

watching back those interviews with Armin

that we did,

I missed that dude so much.

People, if you have never...

I'm sure that was what you're still on

there.

Never listen to Scale As Needed,

the podcast that he used to do with

his friends when they just sat around and

talked about whatever was on their mind.

And every day, it was S-A-N.

So every time they let alone S-A-N stood

for something else, which...

made my uh my humor heart so so

uh so warm because they just made up

something new every day it is fantastic to

listen to it is outstanding to listen to

it's fan is is top tier content if

you think we go off the rails no

no they didn't even have a train we

are just copying

We are just copying.

We are a cheap copy of S.A.N.

and we have no problem with that.

It's perfectly fine.

It was outstanding.

Yeah.

Armin was great.

You know, we weren't like close friends.

We didn't have each other's phone number.

But the fact that he would answer my

messages and come on the show a couple

times.

And him and Chase both.

Chase I would consider a friend.

And love that dude so much.

Yep, podcast, podcast.

Hell,

the old episodes of the CrossFit podcast

that are still,

as far as I can tell,

on Apple Podcasts are also really,

really good.

The ones from, like,

the year or somewhere around there.

When Armand got kicked out of the games.

Right,

when Armand got kicked out of the games,

yes.

Yeah.

So anyway, um,

chat's talking about other stuff,

trying to stay focused.

I did want to lock in the one

thing I did.

I was listening to the spin and them

talking about Jenna too.

And I wanted,

I had one final thought that best

describes Jenna and why I'm sad that she's

leaving.

I messaged her yesterday and we talked a

little bit.

so the other thing is i i always

was told that when you go visit someone

you should leave whatever you have access

to in a better place than when you

got there leave it better than you found

it and the one thing that jenna did

was leave that place in a better spot

than when she found it because when she

found it it was in a really bad

place

Yeah, underground with a headstone.

And she left.

And that CMO position is now in a

much better place than it was when she

got there.

Yeah.

And so if that's said about me when

I go visit somebody or when I go

do something,

that is the ultimate compliment.

And I just wanted that to be said

about her.

Yeah.

Again.

I messaged her yesterday and I totally did

not expect a response and had a short

conversation with her on Messenger

yesterday and basically just wished her

all the best.

Told her everything that we said

yesterday.

And like you said just now, hey, congrats.

Like you took something that was dead and

buried and resurrected it.

And we can't thank you enough for that

because it was needed.

Right.

A hundred percent was needed.

And just wish her, you know,

all the best in whatever she does going

forward.

what actions do you think jenna did that

left it in a better place uh i

don't think we have enough time jake to

lift it list it all off um the

documentary she did with the nerd who

crossfits or whatever i can never remember

her for her name um the one she

did with the the the guy who was

obese and lost whatever and then showing

them going to an l-one

Like those things.

The marketing,

there was nothing before her.

Yeah.

There just was nothing.

And there were actually things I saw that

got me inspired, that got me thinking,

man, CrossFit is cool.

Now, I have had criticisms as well.

when nerds teach.

The documentary she did on her, amazing.

And the fact that she just keeps doing

content based on her CrossFit journey is

awesome.

The other things are she did the F,

the quick fix.

She did,

there was another promotion after that.

There are CrossFit commercials,

essentially,

that show up in different places on social

media.

And she brought back Road to the Games.

She brought back some other,

that's just off the top of my head.

None of the,

all that was gone for years before she

jumped in.

Going, going.

I don't know if you guys remember that

or not,

but like the last road to the games

was what,

in two thousand fifteen or sixteen?

Maybe, maybe seventeen.

I have to go look and see.

Maybe Vicky can find out for us.

But like it's been quite some time.

Well,

the media team was fired in eighteen.

In eighteen.

Yeah,

but I don't remember if they if they

had shut that down before that or not.

Honestly, don't.

were still road to the games because

sixteen was uh bridges and sixteen was

bridges and ants yeah and then everybody

unfortunately remembers that one um andrew

asked if she's leaving voluntary or being

replaced her official response is that she

has resigned yeah what that means uh who

knows

look it's not for us to find out

it's really really not we might at some

point but that's a decision is she saying

she resigned then she resigned like it's

not for us to i am a big

proponent of that's her story to tell yes

yes yes yes that's what i'm trying to

get across um

Barry asks,

who in HQ is responsible for affiliate

growth?

Every single person.

Every person that walks in the door should

be a sponsor.

That should be the number one priority of

everybody who walks in the door at

CrossFit HQ.

Not even at HQ.

I'm going to tell you who else is

responsible for affiliate growth.

Anybody who goes to an affiliate.

True.

Any and every person that goes to an

affiliate.

I am a coach.

I am also an athlete.

If it comes to CrossFit,

I'm an athlete and a coach.

It's probably about what and what because

I need to get my fitness in as

well.

Probably more so on the coach side.

I want twenty people in every one of

my classes.

I do.

Why?

Because that means there's more people

getting healthy.

That means there's more people enjoying

the best hour of their day.

Shout out to the best hour of their

day, boys.

And getting healthy and getting fit.

And the more people that are in there

doing it,

the more people are out there in the

world telling other people about it and

can get other people cross-fitting and

therefore trying to take on the world's

most vexing problem head on.

So when you say who's responsible for

affiliate growth,

every person who considers themselves to

be a CrossFitter and goes to an affiliate

is responsible for affiliate growth,

not just the people in HQ.

So Barry says,

we keep talking about affiliate numbers

declining,

but who has that as their metric of

performance at HQ?

I think that's the problem we've had at

CrossFit HQ.

Yeah.

They don't have metrics anymore.

Now, I'm not in the building.

I don't know if they have metrics or

not, but doggone it.

If it were me,

I would have a poster on the wall

of current affiliates and

what our goal is and are we achieving

any growth at all over the course of

whatever?

Yeah.

The minute they walk into that door,

if you're on a football team, uh,

they were talking about this the other

day, Ben Johnson wants to be the highest,

um,

powered offense in the history of the NFL.

And,

and when you walk into the room or

into the locker room at house hall,

it says strive for greatness, right?

Everybody knows what the goal is.

Everybody knows walking in.

There is no HQ building anymore for people

to walk into and be on the same

page of going in the same direction.

Shout out to Sousa.

He's been beating that drum for years now.

The fact that there is no actual place

for people to come in.

But it's more than the building.

It is more than the building.

But if everybody's in the building...

As opposed to, oh, well,

I'm here and you're here and then remote

and maybe we might see each other once

every three months or so,

something along those lines.

There's no people.

If I'm in the room with you,

it is way easier for me to hold

you accountable or for you to hold me

accountable than it is for if I am

just doing my work remotely somewhere and

maybe I'll get on a call later and

maybe I won't.

Do I think it works for everybody?

No.

Do I think it works for somebody like

that as far as business growth is

concerned and everybody be able to be a

lot easier to get on the same page?

Absolutely.

Absolutely.

So Jake,

I didn't get a chance to answer your

first question,

but if you pull up the latest comment

of Jake,

this is what I would have answered to

your last question.

I think what she did initially by bringing

back the eat meats, veggies,

and the pukey,

the clown and all that fed into the

base that already exists and got them

reignited.

Then there should have been a transition

to,

we need to bring in outside people to

this thing.

I'm not sure that truly happened.

Now, I do think Nerds Who Teach,

that documentary,

could reach other people,

but we have to get it to places

where other people can see it.

It's the same problem with watching the

CrossFit Games and having commercials for

CrossFit during the breaks.

You're selling ice to Eskimos at that

point.

Like, what are we doing?

Yep.

Those commercials are great.

They really are.

If you've watched any of them,

they are outstanding.

The people who are watching the games,

by and large, already get it.

They've already bought that product.

Just slapping it onto YouTube means that

it's going to go into the algorithm for

that type of thing,

and you're going to be selling it.

The same people who watch CrossFit content

are going to see it.

You're not reaching anybody new.

It's one of those, it takes money,

you're going to spend money to make money

type deal.

It needs to be on during something else

that is not CrossFit related.

Period.

Do I think they need to be at

a thirty second spot at the Super Bowl?

No, we don't have that kind of money.

Not currently,

but should it be on during a baseball

game or during a basketball game or

something along those lines?

Sure.

Why not?

Why not have a, you know,

pay for some ads during another,

at least a sporting event.

People were watching sporting events.

This is my completely, totally,

and probably really off-base opinion here,

but are more likely to be people who

would want to go and work out and

do those type of things if you're watching

that kind of shit.

So, Jake, conceptually,

I understand what you're saying.

Zlatan probably gained CrossFit

affiliates,

a thousand members worldwide with one

post.

We don't have a metric to show us

that.

So back to Barry's comment,

how do you measure that?

And this is getting way in the weeds

of shit that is back into my business

background and my MBA.

The issue that CrossFit has is it throws

spaghetti at the wall.

And you can't measure it.

You can't measure the effect of the

spaghetti because you've thrown so much

shit up there.

You don't know what any single piece of

that pasta has done to make an impact.

Yep.

And they've always been that way.

They've always just thrown shit up.

Now, we're at a point in the growth,

and I've talked about this earlier in the

week,

from a small business to a medium business

to a large business,

the thought process has to change because

you have to think of things differently.

When you're a small business,

you can throw shit at the wall,

and it's still going to have an impact.

And it doesn't really matter which way it

comes from,

but you have to know where you're spending

money and where is the value coming back

from that money that you spent.

Making a commercial that's only going to

air to your base,

is that money well spent?

No.

It's not.

I don't give a damn who says what

about anything.

Are those things cool?

Yes.

Those things are fun to watch when you

see the guy that, uh,

the one that he did with Scott Pancheck

with the older fellow that was at Scott

Pancheck's, uh,

that one was outstanding to watch and they

made it into an ad basically.

And it's fun, but okay.

We already,

like we get that people have seen that

kind of stuff at their local affiliate.

There is more,

more than likely a chance that that kind

of stuff has already been seen at your

local affiliate.

So why are you showing it to us?

Not that we don't want to see it,

but money well spent,

money better spent is to send it somewhere

else where it's actually going to get some

traction.

One of the things that used to be

done very well was the website was kept

up and it had relevant information on it.

And when you did search engine

optimization of that stuff,

then people were finding it because it

wasn't in an algorithm.

People were searching for certain things.

Now the website is so freaking confusing.

Yeah.

Does it look more modern?

Yeah.

It's not white and black text on,

but is it easy to navigate?

No.

That is the first thing I would do

as the chief marketing officers.

Get people to open up your website or

make an app that people are interested in.

And again,

I'm just spitballing off the top of my

head because I have not sat down and

thought about a marketing strategy for

CrossFit.

As it turns out.

uh you gonna get that one the wayne

one uh there isn't a voice outside of

the crossfit community hell cindy is now

known as the spider-man challenge because

the general population has no clue and

that is on crossfit amen wayne that is

incredibly frustrating the fact that

crossfit hasn't jumped on that that piece

of content

and blowed it up because now you have

people looking for tom holland people

looking for spider-man not just crossfit

and if you listen to him he says

it's a crossfit workout like from the

original thing and then he explains what

it is and instead people skipped right

over that they're like let's do the

spider-man challenge

Mind-blowing.

Mind-blowing.

I would have him slowly get that clip

of him saying that,

and then when he says, it's a CrossFit,

we're CrossFit, CrossFit,

and just say it six times,

and then he cut to somebody else going,

yeah, it's called Cindy.

So here's the disconnect, Jake.

Yes, they did it eight months ago.

Hey, I don't know if you know this,

but a new freaking Spider-Man movie came

out two weeks ago.

It's projected to do two billion dollars

worldwide.

So guess what's back at the top of

people's minds?

Spider-Man.

And the guy who plays him does CrossFit.

He's on every talk show right now.

Not eight months ago.

Right now.

Now's the time when you want to jump

on these activities.

Oh, and FYI, Tom Holland's ripped.

The couple of times that he's been in

the movie or whatnot,

like when he's without a shirt,

the dude is ripped.

And they're calling it Tom Holland's

Spider-Man workout.

Oh, my God.

Scroll down a little bit.

Scroll down a little bit.

Spider-Man hit workout.

Hit.

Hit workout.

Why is this?

Good God, people.

It's a freaking CrossFit workout.

I just got a headache.

Oh, my God.

Joseph Ramirez says Spider-Man is washed.

It broke the record for box office in

the history of movies week one.

Yeah.

That's another one.

Yes.

Patrick Clark.

Thank you.

The thing we talked about last week with

Patrick Wilson doing grace.

Yes.

Not even doing grace,

just doing a bunch of power cleans,

but whatever.

Same, almost the same thing.

And why he thought it looked cool.

Joseph Tyson Bajan is a nice story and

I'm a Chicago bears fan and I love

him to death,

but he's a backup quarterback in the NFL.

Tom Holland just starred in the number one

box office movie in the world for in

box office in the history of movies.

Yeah.

If you haven't seen it, it's so good.

Just throwing that out there.

Are you freaking kidding me?

Like the opportunity was right there to

grab and nothing was done.

No,

we're going to call it a hit workout

on YouTube.

We're going to call it the Spider-Man

workout.

Tom Holland, Spider-Man workout.

No, it was Cindy.

Yeah, still is FYI.

I go do it right now.

It'll still be Cindy.

It has nothing to do with, with,

with Spider-Man other than the fact that

Tom's like, oh,

when I'm pressed for time and it,

this is another, this, this, another,

lots of people doing the Murph challenge

have no idea.

It's a CrossFit workout.

That's the, a problem.

That's a problem.

jake jake said funny funny how they don't

do fran yeah you know why it hurts

well and um the cape fear guy uh

my the name is patrick wilson said that

they have to film this like twenty

different times

If he were going to do Fran twenty

times, he wouldn't survive the day.

He had to find something that was doable

over and over again.

Can you imagine, so you did Fran once,

say Patrick Wilson's got a three minute

Fran, three and a half minute Fran.

You're now dusted for the next ten minutes

before you can get up and move around

and think about doing it again.

But Ken,

if I want to see Fran on Cape

Fear, I don't want it scaled.

no no not at all not even close

as a matter of fact oh yeah i

i just tried to picture like i got

a name ten takes of somebody doing fran

Jesus Christ, you'd be wrecked, dude.

Why does my pee look like Coca-Cola?

I don't understand.

This doesn't feel right at all.

Something's wrong, bro.

Patrick actually admitted that the cleans

were just the easiest to repeat over and

over and over again.

Yeah, because somebody was like,

why don't you do snatches?

He's like, oh, no, we're not doing that.

And they were good form.

They were good cleans.

Yeah.

He actually did.

Yeah.

He actually did have decent form and he

looks, he's ripped dude.

Like clearly that's not the first time

he's done them.

First of all, so you do enough, hundred,

thirty-five pound cleans.

It will ruin your day.

All right, let's go off.

I have to get back to work.

However, however,

I have to rip on you one last

time.

Oh, please.

Because Vicky and I talked about doing the

Dumb Dumb Stupid Pants Award of the Week.

The DDSP.

And taking nominees throughout the week.

And we have been very reluctant to get

those nominees or remember to even

advertise it as an award.

As a thing.

But...

So I'm doing a bad job.

I am not marketing to my people the

way I should for the Dumb Dumb Stupid

Pants Award.

It's a cry in shame.

But I want to hand out the Dumb

Dumb Stupid Pants Award of the week.

Sure.

And it goes to Jaden Daniels.

Oh, yeah, a hundred percent.

He should get two.

I don't even know if it goes to

him or if it goes to his mom.

He should get two.

Well,

one for him and one for his mom

because she's going to have to give him

his anyway.

The memes that have been flying around.

Did you know that five guys changed their

name to four guys because they don't know

if they can use the five permission from

Jane Daniels to use the five?

Yeah.

FYI,

a lot of businesses across the country are

switching from nine to five to nine to

four.

So if you're hearing this right now,

go ahead and leave an hour early for

work and you can thank Jaden Daniels

later.

When I heard his teammates on the

commanders are no longer giving high

fives,

they are now giving high fours because

they just want to respect his number.

So yesterday we talked about how he

compared himself to Joe Burrow,

yet Joe Burrow won a national

championship, went undefeated,

embraced the city,

changed the spelling of his last name to

E-A-U-X, all that stuff.

The piece that I forgot about until you

sent me a reel was that Jaden Daniels

refused to play in the bowl game for

LSU.

And the Cheez-It Bowl.

And then he's going to sue LSU and

give me everything back because you gave

my number five to another player.

And it wasn't even,

it was the Cheez-It Bowl.

You didn't treat me like Joe Burrow,

the legend.

Mind-blowing, dude.

Absolutely mind-blowing.

Oh, Jody, sorry.

You're in here late.

Apparently you weren't here yesterday.

Jaden Daniels' people, his team,

excuse me.

He made a statement himself.

I'm not excusing him anymore.

Yeah, no, no, no, no.

Sent a cease and desist to LSU to

no longer use his name, image,

and likeness because he feels offended

that somebody else is going to use the

number five.

So apparently he's the only person on the

planet that can use the number five.

Sorry.

If you are a NASCAR driver and you

happen to have number five,

sorry about your luck.

You're going to have to go ahead and

change that.

I don't know if anybody had told you.

Wayne Short says, first home game,

LSU should give away number five picket

jerseys.

You're not going to have to.

First,

DJ Pickett is going to be one of

the top cornerbacks in the league this

year.

Secondly,

you know how many jerseys they're going to

sell just because it's got number five on

the back of it?

I'm going to give you a hint.

It's a lot.

It is a lot, a whole lot.

Oh, it's fantastic.

Yeah.

No.

So if I'd make a Jersey number four

plus one, the flag is thrown.

Whistle gets blown.

It's a,

Offsides, number seventy-three offense.

Six-yard penalty, still first.

I'm going to take a wild stab in

the dark and guess that Barry McOchner is

an Eagles fan.

Probably.

He has talked about the Eagles owning the

commanders, owning Jaden Daniels,

owning everything for the last five

minutes.

So I'm just taking a wild stab in

the dark that he is a fan of

the team that puts out a promo video

of his quarterback throwing an

interception.

Just, you know,

because we love Jalen Hurts so much.

Let's put out a promo video of him

throwing an interception.

See, now that he said that Cinco,

so Wayne Short said we had Ocho and

now we have Cinco.

I also found out that Cinco de Mayo

is no longer going to be called Cinco

de Mayo.

It's going to be called Cinco de Jail

in honor of Jaden Daniels.

uh patrick's right santa owns the eagles

the only town that santa gets booed in

the eagles fans are rough dude eagles fans

are rough

Oh, good night.

So I do have a new fun thing,

and I'm going to hit this, Vicky.

This is what happened to Jalen Hurts when

they threw that interception.

Son of a bitch!

Oh, that's good.

I need to go watch the new episodes.

I really need to go watch the new

episodes.

That is so good.

That may be the funniest thing I've seen

on TV all year.

Yeah.

That is outstanding.

I'm trying not to just,

I'm trying to hold it.

I'm trying to hold it together.

I was laughing so hard yesterday.

My abs hurt.

It was fantastic.

Um, my cheeky little laugh.

Thanks, Jake.

Um, well, I laughed a lot yesterday.

I posted a thing.

If you only knew what happened after the

show,

we're going to quickly tell you what

happened after the show yesterday.

Let's get the quick recap going on.

Let's get the,

we want to bring Vicki in.

You actually want to bring Vicki in so

she can, she can try to defend herself.

No, cause there's no, no, no.

No,

we're not going to let her speak because

we were there.

We witnessed it.

So I said to Corey that my wife

and I are thinking about coming to New

Orleans for our thirtieth wedding

anniversary as part of a tour that we're

going to do because she wants to see

New Orleans.

And a lot of conversation happened in the

middle there.

But then Vicki said.

Vicki said,

make sure you go to that hotel that

serves breakfast, brunch.

Brunch.

The historic hotel.

The historic hotel that serves brunch.

And Corey's like,

every hotel in New Orleans is a historic

hotel that serves brunch.

So all of them.

And Vicki keeps going, you know the one.

The one that serves brunch.

And it has the ducks.

And then Corey's going, the ducks?

What the hell are you talking about,

the ducks?

I don't know a single hotel that serves

brunch with ducks.

Never.

We eat ducks.

Yeah, I said we eat ducks.

But you can get ducks served to you.

And she was like, you know,

the chef comes in and they bring ducks

inside and it goes into the – never

in my life heard about it.

Turns out Vicky is frantically typing on

her keyboard to prove us wrong.

She goes, it's the Peabody Hotel.

And Corey's like,

I don't know a Peabody Hotel.

And Vicky goes, it's in Memphis.

It's in Memphis.

Damn it.

I don't know if y'all notice or not.

This isn't going to be a spoiler alert

to some people, but Memphis from my house,

my house is forty five minutes from New

Orleans.

Memphis from my house is about six and

a half hours away.

If they're bringing ducks from Memphis to

New Orleans every single day,

that's dedication.

I'm just just throwing it out there.

Oh.

anyway people dog my wife for wanting to

go to new orleans she is an interior

designer who studied architecture she

wants to go see the architecture of the

buildings there that's why she wants to go

we're not there to drink and party and

all the no the whatnot we are there

for like architecture and maybe a beignet

at the cafe dumont and i'm gonna make

him a gumbo uh you know the ducks

now make sense

Some stuff you got to wait for, Mark.

Some stuff you got to wait for.

Yeah.

Jody's.

Tell her to Google pictures.

Just go tell Julie.

Hey, Jules.

We talked about you wanting to go to

New Orleans on the show today and the

chat said you should just use Google

because it would be just like being there.

Listen, it's our,

it's our thirtieth anniversary.

If she wants to go to New Orleans,

we're going to New Orleans.

And hey,

if I can stop by and see Corey

in person.

Absolutely.

And get a little gumbo out of the

deal.

I'll have dinner waiting.

But anyway, with that, guys.

Hold on, one last thing.

Patrick Clark, this is about the same,

this is about the same thing.

Go to the Voodoo Museum.

Which one?

Anyway, let's go.

What is more plentiful?

Historic hotels that serve brunch or

voodoo museums?

That's about what and what.

Most of the historic hotels have voodoo

museums inside.

The ones that aren't haunted.

And guess what?

They're all haunted.

Guys, my abs.

I'm going to have washboard abs from all

the laughing I've done this week.

Scott's going to be like,

I woke up yesterday and I had to

do a figure competition from all the

laughing that we did.

Andrew Sten has a recommendation.

Go to that place that sells pro boys.

Yeah.

Yeah.

A hundred percent.

Or that place that sells jambalaya.

Yeah.

That's the one spot.

Honestly,

there's really only like one or two.

Good night.

All right, people, we got to go.

I'm hungry.

All right, take us out.

You wouldn't wait to get to the editing

room to jazz me up.

I'm already jazzy.

From the gym to the screen, yeah,

we cover it all.

Midday motivation every time we press

call.

Lunch with the Clydesdale,

cowboy ring the heat.

CrossFit movies, music on repeat.

Half hour hustle, yeah,

we building that brand.

Grab a plate, shoot it,

now you're part of the fam.

Yeah.
